how we ship AZUB recumbents and trikes

packed folding trike azub tricon

We are used to ship our bikes all over the world as more then 85% of our production is exported. We have bikes in most of the European countries as well as in USA, South Korea or Japan, JAR, Malaysia, China, New Zealand and also Australia.

Every bike produced in AZUB is first assembled, adjusted in the work stand and then test ridden several hundreds of meters so all the shifting and braking is checked and is working properly. We also test quality of assembly and function of the most important parts. That is valid if we ship to end customer as well as to a dealer. Exception is only a front derailleur in case we ship outside Europe as the front boom has to be removed so the cable cannot be assembled. Also the aTRIKE ECO is not fully assembled and is not test ridden prior shipping.

We really recommend you to order the bike via one of our dealer as you will get the bike ready for riding, adjusted, checked once again after shipping, and you will also get all the needed info about how to use the bike or trike, how to fold it, how to care about it etc. And the price should be the same directly from us as from the dealer. But if there is no dealer close to you, you can always order directly from us.

When shipping within European Union and most European countries we use pretty large boxes so bikes have only disassembled handlebars and the seat. AZUB MAX and IBEX have also the front wheel dismounted and time to time also some accessories are packed next to the bike. Trikes are usually just folded with dismounted seat as if you would have them ready to be transported by car. In general, it takes about half an hour after you open the box to get the bike or trike ready for riding. You need only basic bicycle tool like allen key no. 5 and 6 and you do not need almost any bicycle mechanic skills.

When shipping to US or other countries around the world, we use smaller boxes to decrease the shipping cost significantly. Bikes as well as trikes are shipped with dismounted wheels, seat, front boom and also some accessories like carriers or mudguards can be removed. The chain is disconnected and also front derailleur is not connected to the cable. It takes about one to two hours of work to build the bike up and it depends a lot on how skilled mechanic you are. You need to have at least some knowledge about bicycles and how to adjust shifters and how to connect a chain together. You will need a set of allen keys like no 4, 5 and 6 as well as wrenches like 8, 10, 13 and 15mm for pedals. For trikes without quick release wheels you will also need a 19mm socket wrench for assembling front wheels. If you do not feel you will be able to complete the bike, you can always ask your local bike shop as there is nothing that specific they would not be able to assemble it for you within an hour or two.

Shipping our recumbent tandem bike AZUB TWIN is a bit tricky always when talking about packaging and size of the box as it really depends on how many accessories and what type of set up your have chosen. But the bike we shipped furthest to New Zealand was a tandem. In general, all the information mentioned here above about shipping to EU or other countries are valid for the tandem as well.
